The Inaugural Biennial Conference on Malaysian Chinese Studies, organized by the Centre for Malaysian Chinese Studies (CMCS), will be held on 9 and 10 June 2012 at the Federal Hotel, Kuala Lumpur. The biennial conference will bring together, both local and international academicians, to share their latest research findings on Malaysian Chinese.

The conference, which is sponsored by the family of the late Tan Sri Ngan Ching Wen, is organized as a biennial international academic event by the CMCS.

Details of the Inaugural Biennial Conference are as follows:

  a. Developments and methodologies of Malaysian Chinese studies
b. Clan associations, new villages, immigrants and community in Malaysian Chinese studies
c. The Chinese in modern and contemporary social, economic and political issues in Malaysia
d. Education, culture and religions of the Chinese in Malaysia
e. Other related topics
 
3. Submission Guidelines
  a The content of the papers is the sole responsibility of the author. Chinese and English papers shall not exceed 15,000 and 10,000 words respectively.
b. Selected papers will be considered for publication.
c. The deadline for submitting abstract of the papers is 31 December 2011. Please submit titles and abstracts (about 500 words) with your personal information (including affiliation, designation and contact details). All abstract of the papers will be subject to a review process and those accepted will be notified accordingly.
d. Full papers should be sent through e-mail to the organizer by 15 April 2012.

  Papers may be written and/or presented in Chinese or English.

8. Transport and Accommodation
  All participants (including paper presenters) shall pay for their own transport and accommodation. The organizer will assist in hotel reservations, the details of which will be provided in a forth coming Second Notice. Participants are also expected to arrange for their own international or domestic flights.

  Member of CMCS/ Students: RM100
Non-member: RM200
